The Gathering of the Community
Take delight in the Lord,
who satisfies the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord
and trust in God’s actions.
Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for God.
The Lord is our salvation
and our refuge in times of trouble.
Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
*Hymn VU 593 Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us with Your Love
Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.
Kneels at the feet of his friends,
silently washes their feet,
master who acts as a slave to them.
Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.
Neighbours are rich and poor,
varied in color and race,
neighbours are near and far away.
Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.
These are the ones we should serve,
these are the ones we should love;
all are neighbours to us and you.
Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.
Kneel at the feet of our friends,
silently washing their feet,
this is the way we should live with you.
Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.

The Proclamation of the Word
HutÅ‚ilala's! Let us listen as God’s Word is proclaimed!
First Reading Genesis 45:3-11, 15
…The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Psalm 37 VU 763
Refrain: Commit your way to God and trust the One who takes your part.
Do not fret because of the wicked, or envy those who do evil.
For they soon wither like grass and fade away like the green leaf.
R: Commit your way to God and trust the One who takes your part.
God will make your vindication shine like the light,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Be still before God and wait patiently;
do not fret because some prosper in evil schemes.
Let go of anger and abandon wrath.
Do not fret – it can only do harm.
R: Commit your way to God and trust the One who takes your part.
Those who do evil shall be cut off,
but those who look to God shall inherit the earth.
In a little while the wicked will be no more;
you will look where they were and their place will be empty.
But the meek shall inherit the earth;
they shall enjoy fullness of peace.
Salvation for the righteous comes from God, their refuge in time of trouble.
God helps and delivers, and rescues from the wicked those who seek shelter.
R: Commit your way to God and trust the One who takes your part.
Epistle 1 Corinthians 15: 35-50
...The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
*Hymn VU 684 Make Me a Channel of Your Peace
Make me a channel of your peace:
where there is hatred let me bring your love;
where there is injury your healing power,
And where there's doubt true faith in you.
O Spirit grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace:
where there's despair in life let me bring hope;
where there is darkness, only light;
and where there's sadness, ever joy.
O Spirit grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
in giving to all that we receive,
and in dying that we're born to eternal life.
Music: Sebastian Temple

Reflection
*Affirmation of our Faith
We are not alone, we live in God’s world.
We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God’s presence, to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God.

Confession
…a moment of silence…Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Holy name. Amen.
Absolution
The Peace
Friends, Christ is our Peace, our infinite Peace. May the peace of God be always with you.
And also with you.
(We all share a sign of peace together.)
THE SACRED MEAL IS SHARED
*Offertory Hymn VU 227 For the Fruit of All Creation
For the fruit of all creation,
thanks be to God.
For the gifts to every nation,
thanks be to God.
For the ploughing, sowing, reaping,
silent growth while we are sleeping,
future needs in earth's safekeeping,
thanks be to God.
In the just reward of labour,
God's will is done.
In the help we give our neighbour,
God's will is done.
In our worldwide task of caring
for the hungry and despairing,
in the harvests we are sharing,
God's will is done.
For the harvests of the Spirit,
thanks be to God.
For the good we all inherit,
thanks be to God.
For the wonders that astound us,
for the truths that still confound us,
most of all that love has found us,
thanks be to God.
Words: Fred Pratt Green
*Response VU 542 We Give You but Your Own
We give you but your own,
what e’er the gift may be;
all that we have is yours alone,
We give it gratefully.
*Prayer over the Gifts
Eucharist 1, Supplement to the Book of Alternative Services
May God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Holy God, Lover of creation, we give you thanks and praise, ...
…Therefore with all the angels of heaven, we lift our voices to proclaim the glory of your name and sing:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. †Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Gracious God, in the fullness of time you sent Jesus the Christ ...
...And now we gather at this table in response to his commandment, to share the bread and cup of Christ’s undying love, and to proclaim our faith.
Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
Breathe your Holy Spirit, the wisdom of the universe, upon these gifts that we bring to you: this bread, this cup, ourselves, our hearts and bodies, that we may be signs of your love for all the world and ministers of your transforming purpose.
Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, Creator of all, and we bless your holy name for ever. Amen.
Lord’s Prayer
As our Saviour taught us, let us sing, (SFGP 12)
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.
Breaking of the Bread
We break this bread to share in the life of Christ.
We being many, are one body, for we all share in the one bread.
Communion
The gifts of God for the People of God.
Thanks be to God.
The elements are given out and we celebrate communion as one.
Jesus Christ, the bread of Life. (We take the host.)
Jesus Christ the cup of our salvation. (We take the wine/juice)
Prayer after Communion
*Hymn MV 169 When Hands Reach Out Beyond Divides
When hands reach out beyond divides
and hope is truly found,
each chain of hate will fall away
and bells of peace shall sound,
and bells of peace, of peace shall sound,
and bells of peace shall sound,
each chain of hate will fall away
and bells of peace shall sound.
When fear no longer guides our steps
and days of war are done,
God’s dream for all shall live anew;
our hearts will heal as one,
our hearts will heal, will heal as one,
our hearts will heal as one,
God’s dream for all shall live anew;
our hearts will heal as one.
When race and creed blind us no more,
a neighbour’s face we’ll see,
and we shall dance the whole world round,
for love will set us free,
for love, yes love will set us free,
for love will set us free,
and we shall dance the whole world round,
for love will set us free.
*Doxology
Glory to God,
whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.
*Blessing
*Three-fold Amen
*Dismissal
Go in Peace to Love and Serve the Lord.
Thanks be to God!
