The Gathering of the Community
To my sisters and brothers I will tell your glory;
O Lord our God, how majestic is your name!
In the great congregation I will sing your praise:
O Lord our God, how majestic is your name!

Collect of the Day

*Hymn VU 559 Come, O Fount of Every Blessing

Come, O Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing your grace;
streams of mercy never ceasing
call for songs of endless praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount; I'm fixed upon it,
mount of God's unfailing love.

Here I pause in my sojourning,
giving thanks for having come,
come to trust, at every turning,
God will guide me safely home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God,
came to rescue me from danger,
precious presence, precious blood.

O, to grace how great a debtor
daily I am drawn anew!
Let that grace now, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to you.
Prone to wander, I can feel it,
wander from the love I've known:
here's my heart, O, take and seal it,
seal it for your very own.

The Proclamation of the Word
Hutłilala's! Let us listen as God’s Word is proclaimed!

Hebrew: Job 1:11, 2:1-10
…The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

Psalm 26
If you pass judgement on me, O God, then do it in my favor, I ask and I pray,
knowing that the path I’ve walked is one of great integrity.
Put me to the test, O Lord,
examine the inner contents of my soul.
See, my eyes are ever fixed on you, my faith is firm,
my feet walk steadfast in your ways towards you.
And when I sit in counsel or in friendship, Lord,
It is not with those who are masked and hidden in deceit or false of heart.
For I detest the fellowship of wickedness,
I will not league myself to evil or its many ways.
I wash my hands of these, and long to stay in innocence
that I may circle round your altar, Lord,
And closing in, sing songs with grateful thanks,
proclaiming all the wonders that you are.
I love the house you’ve made your home,
where all your beauty dwells.
So do not cast my life away, a useless thing,
nor let me dwell far from your presence and alone with those whose only thirst is blood.
Whose fingers itch to take a life
whose hands drip poison and decay.
No, I will walk the path of deep integrity,
if you but show the way,
And give your grace that I may stand, my feet at last on level ground,
with all who gather there to praise your name.

Epistle: Hebrew 1:1-2, 2:5-12
...The word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

*Hymn VU 348 O Love, How Deep (vv. 1-3, 7)

O Love, how deep, how broad, how high!
It fills the heart with ecstasy,
that God, in Jesus Christ, should take
our mortal form for mortals' sake.

God sent no angel to our race
of higher or of lower place,
but wore the robe of human frame,
and freely to this lost world came.

For us he was baptized, and bore
a holy fast, and hungered sore;
for us temptations sharply knew;
for us the tempter overthrew.

To God whose boundless love has won
salvation for us through the Son,
to God all praise and glory be
both now and through eternity.

*The Gospel
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus according to Mark.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
... the reading, Mark 10:2-16
The Gospel of Christ.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Reflection

Affirmation of our Faith- Hear O Israel
Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first and the great commandment.
The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.

Prayers of the People
Response: Vindicate them, O, Lord.

Confession
a moment of silence…Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Holy name. Amen.

Absolution

*The Peace
Friends, Christ is our Peace, our infinite Peace. May the peace of God be always with you.
And also with you.
(We all share a sign of peace together.)

THE SACRED MEAL IS SHARED

*Offertory Hymn VU 467 One Bread, One Body

One bread, one body,
one Lord of all,
one cup of blessing which we bless.
And we, though many,
throughout the earth,
we are one body in this one Lord.

Gentile or Jew,
servant or free,
woman or man, no more.

One bread, one body,
one Lord of all,
one cup of blessing which we bless.
And we, though many,
throughout the earth,
we are one body in this one Lord.

Many the gifts,
many the works,
one in the Lord of all.

One bread, one body,
one Lord of all,
one cup of blessing which we bless.
And we, though many,
throughout the earth,
we are one body in this one Lord.

Grain for the fields,
scattered and grown,
gathered to one, for all.

One bread, one body,
one Lord of all,
one cup of blessing which we bless.
And we, though many,
throughout the earth,
we are one body in this one Lord.

Words and music: John B. Foley.

Response VU 542 We Give You but Your Own

We give you but your own,
what e’er the gift may be;
all that we have is yours alone,
We give it gratefully.

Prayer over the Gifts

Eucharist Prayer, by Salal and Cedar, adapted.

May God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to God our creator.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is right in all times and in all places to thank and praise you Creator of all. ...

...Therefore we praise you, joining our voices to proclaim the glory of your name.

Holy, holy, Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full, full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
†Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.
Blessed is the One who comes, comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

We give thanks to you for Jesus...
... All honour and glory are yours, †Creator, Christ and Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Lord’s Prayer
Friends, as our Saviour taught us, let us pray,
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Breaking of the Bread
“I am the bread of life,” says the Lord. “Whoever comes to me will never be hungry; whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
Taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are they who trust in him!

Communion
The gifts of God for the People of God.
Thanks be to God.
The elements are given out and we celebrate communion as one.
Jesus Christ, the bread of Life. (We take the host.)
Jesus Christ the cup of our salvation. (We take the wine/juice)

Prayer after Communion

Hymn VU 567 Will You Come and Follow Me

Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown,
will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown
in you and you in me?

Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare
should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer
in you and you in me?

Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean,
and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what I mean
in you and you in me?

Will you love the 'you' you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you've found
to reshape the world around,
through my sight and touch and sound
in you and you in me?

Christ, your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In your company I’ll go
where your love and footsteps show.
Thus I’ll move and live and grow
in you and you in me.

that we worship, play, and pray
on the unceded ancestral Lands of
the Kwaguʼł People, past, present, and future.
We honour the People of the Land
who have been Creator’s stewards
since time can remember.
As Christians, we are called to repentance
for residential schools
and the suffering that children and families endured
and must heal from today.
We are called to the right relationship and the Way that Jesus intended for all people- the way of hope, peace, love and joy.
